The Word Counter Itself Collects Nothing
Every word, character, sentence, paragraph, reading-time, speaking-time, and keyword-density figure on this site is calculated as plain JavaScript running in your own browser, from the text you type or paste. Nothing about that text is sent to a server, stored in a database, or visible to us in any form.
The only thing saved is an optional local draft of your current text, kept in your browser's own storage (localStorage) purely so a refresh doesn't lose your work. That draft never leaves your device, is never transmitted anywhere, and can be removed at any time by clicking "Clear" on the tool or by clearing your browser's site data for this domain.
What This Site Collects When You Simply Visit It
Like almost every website, basic technical information passes through our hosting provider automatically as part of serving pages, such as your approximate region (derived from network routing, not GPS), the page requested, and standard technical request headers. This is normal web server operation, not something specific to this site, and it is never linked to the text you type into the counter.
This site does not run any page-view analytics service beyond basic, aggregate visit metrics collected at the network edge by our hosting provider (no cookies, no individual visitor profiles). The only interaction data collected is the anonymous thumbs-up/thumbs-down feedback signal described below, if you choose to use it. There is no advertising tracking pixel, no cross-site tracking cookie, and no sale of visitor data to third parties.
Feedback and Contact
If you use the thumbs-up or thumbs-down feedback control on this site, an anonymous rating is recorded for that page, with no personal information attached and no way to trace it back to you individually.
If you email us at contact@wordcounterfree.xyz, we naturally receive whatever information you choose to include in that email, such as your email address and the content of your message. That information is used only to reply to you and is not added to any marketing list or shared with third parties.
See the word counter, the how it works page, and the writing limits guide for details on the tool this policy covers.
Data Retention and Your Choices
Because the counter itself never transmits your text, there is no server-side copy of it to retain or delete in the first place. The only data point that could exist is the local browser draft described above, and you control that directly: clicking "Clear" on the tool, or clearing your browser's cookies and site data for this domain, removes it completely, with no need to contact us first.
The anonymous feedback signal described above is not tied to an individual visitor identity, so there is no per-person record to request or delete. If you emailed us directly, that message sits in a normal email inbox like any other message you send someone, and you can ask us to delete a specific email exchange at any time using the same contact address.
Your Rights Under CCPA, GDPR and Similar Laws
Depending on where you live, you may have rights under a privacy law such as the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), a similar US state privacy law, or the EU/UK GDPR, including the right to know what personal data is held about you, the right to ask for it to be corrected or deleted, and the right to object to certain processing. Given that this site collects no personal data through the tool itself and no advertising trackers, in practice the only personal data that can exist is whatever you voluntarily sent in an email. Any such request can be sent to contact@wordcounterfree.xyz and will be honored without requiring an account, a login, or a fee.
Children's Privacy and Third-Party Links
This site is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, of any age, through the counter tool. A handful of pages on this site link to other tools or reference sections within the same site; those internal links stay entirely within this domain. If an external link is ever added, it will be to reputable, publicly documented sources, and this policy only covers this site, not any third-party destination a visitor chooses to click through to.
Changes to This Policy
If this policy changes in a way that affects what data is collected, this page will be updated and the date below will change. Checking back here occasionally is the simplest way to stay current, since there is no account or email list to notify separately.
